Bangladesh, Aug. 18 -- A Dhaka court has placed MyTV chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi on a five-day remand for questioning by the Central Investigation Department in a case over the murder of Asadul Haque Babu during the July Uprising at Jatrabari.

CID investigator Inspector Khan Md Erfan had sought seven days' custody, but after the hearing on Monday, Metropolitan Magistrate Ziauddin Ahmed granted five, according to prosecution police SI Sharifuzzaman.

Investigators allege that Nasir, in his capacity as chairman and managing director of MyTV, spread "provocative statements and broadcasts" during the July Uprising, siding with the then Awami League government against protestors.
