Dhaka, Feb. 10 -- Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin has said he will return to his professional career immediately after a new government is formed through the parliamentary election.

At the same time, he urged people to "forget and forgive" him.

Speaking at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Bashir said: "God willing, as soon as the new government is formed, I will return to my working life.

"I want to remain forgotten. I had never come to the media before. Once again, through you, I want to make a humble request -- my final request -- that you please forget me."

Reflecting on his role after assuming office as an advisor, he said he had little prior experience in government, but made every effort to fulfil his responsibilities.
