Dhaka, April 3 -- A two-and-a-half-year-old child with measles symptoms has died at a Chapainawabganj Hospital.

Rumali Khatun, a doctor at the hospital's emergency department, said: "The child was brought to the emergency department with an illness around 8:30am on Friday."

Following some tests, it was found the child had died even before they were brought to the hospital, she said.

The deceased Masuda Khatun was the daughter of Naimur Islam of Hakimpur village in Shahjahanpur union of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila.

"The child had rashes all over her body, which initially seems to be symptoms of measles. However, it has not been confirmed what disease caused her death," Dr Rumali said.
