Dhaka, Feb. 22 -- An eight‑year‑old boy has been killed after being struck by a vehicle from the motorcade of newly elected BNP lawmaker Alamgir Md Mahfujullah Farid in Cox's Bazar's Chakaria.

The incident occurred around 4:30pm on Sunday on the main road near Badarkhali Fazil Madrasa.

The victim, identified as Khaled Bin Walid, was a second-grade student at a local madrasa and the son of expatriate Amanul Islam.

Chakaria Police chief Mohammad Monir Hossain said the boy was hit while attempting to cross the road.

He was rushed to Badarkhali General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Monir confirmed that the vehicle involved was part of the MP's convoy but not his personal car.
