Bangladesh, Sept. 25 -- Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has held a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in New York.
The meeting took place at a hotel on Wednesday local time, according to state-run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
The main focus of the discussion was safe migration, Yunus's press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, told reporters in a briefing afterward.
"Many Bangladeshis are losing their lives trying to reach Italy by sea," he said.
"Human traffickers are luring Bangladeshis by sea and this often leads to tragic accidents."
The Rohingya crisis was also discussed in the talks.
