Dhaka, March 20 -- Followers of Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif in Chattogram are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday, in line with Saudi Arabia.

Adherents of the institution in Satkania have, for around a century, observed Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and other lunar-calendar-based religious events according to moon sightings anywhere in the world, in accordance with their Hanafi beliefs

Sarwar Hossain Chowdhury, a follower of the Darbar and a physician at the National Heart Foundation, told bdnews24.com that the main Eid congregation was held at the Khankah ground of the Darbar Sharif.

The prayers were led by Sajjadanshil Hazrat Imamul Arefin Maulana Muhammad Maksudur Rahman.
