Dhaka, March 22 -- Frequent and prolonged power cuts have dampened the spirit of Eid festivities for many across the country, contrasting sharply with official claims of a stable electricity supply.

While some romanticised the absence of electricity, sitting by candlelight as a wet spell swept through the country keeping the Eid holidays relatively cool, for most, the outages were a significant hurdle.

The lack of power hampered planned activities and left holidaymakers anxious as mobile phone batteries drained with no way to recharge.

Smriti Das, who travelled to Burichang in Cumilla to celebrate with her family, told bdnews24.com that the experience was far from pleasant.
