Dhaka, Sept. 23 -- The government has raised fares for diesel-powered buses and minibuses by Tk 0.17 per kilometre on routes across Bangladesh, including Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas.

The Road Transport and Highways Division issued a gazette notification on Tuesday through the BRTA Establishment Branch, revising the fares with effect from Sept 22.

The division made the notification public on Wednesday.

Under the revised rates, the fare for buses operating in the Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas has been raised from Tk 2.53 to Tk 2.70 per kilometre.

For buses and minibuses operating on inter-district and long-distance routes, the fare has increased from Tk 2.23 to Tk 2.40 per kilometre.
