Dhaka, Oct. 19 -- Police have secured two days to interrogate Mithu Biswas in custody, arrested in connection with the "rape" of a Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student in Savar.
Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Tajul Islam granted the request on Sunday following a petition from the investigating officer.
Mithu was arrested from Tejkunipara in Dhaka around 2:30am on Saturday.
The investigating officer, Savar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Abdul Wahab, produced him before the court, seeking seven days for interrogation in custody.
Defence lawyer Farid Uddin appealed for bail and cancellation of the interrogation plea, but the court granted two days' police custody.
