BSF suspends barbed-wire fencing near Panchbibi after BGB raises legal objections
Dhaka, June 3 -- Work on border fencing by India's Border Security Force (BSF) near Panchbibi in Joypurhat has been stopped after the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) reportedly raised objections during a flag meeting between the two sides.
The flag meeting between the two border forces was held on Tuesday night, after which the work was suspended, a local union council member said.
He said the BGB accused the Indian border force of violating international law.
However, Joypurhat-20 BGB Battalion Commander Lt Col Latiful Bari was unavailable for comments despite several phone calls.
Another BGB official declined to comment when called.
