Dhaka, April 27 -- BRAC University has marked the 90th birth anniversary of its founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed.

The daylong event was held at its Merul Badda campus in Dhaka on Monday.

Vice-Chancellor Syed Ferhat Anwar also launched the university's 25th anniversary celebrations by unveiling the silver jubilee logo, read a media statement.

The institution was established on Jun 16, 2001.

The event, titled "Celebration of Abed Bhai's Life and Legacy", began with a photo exhibition highlighting the founder's contributions to social development in Bangladesh and beyond.

An open-rated chess tournament held in his name drew more than 300 participants from across the country, the statement added.
