Dhaka, April 22 -- Senior BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has underscored China's "crucial" role in resolving the longstanding Teesta water-sharing issue and the Rohingya humanitarian crisis during high-level talks in Beijing.

Leading a party delegation, the secretary general met Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng on Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People, according to BNP media cell sources.

The delegation also held a separate meeting with Liu Haixing, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC).

Both sides, according to the BNP statement, expressed a shared commitment to elevating bilateral relations further based on mutual respect and equality.
