Dhaka, Feb. 10 -- Members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) election management committee have assured the Election Commission (EC) that party activists will refrain from any actions that could hinder the electoral process.

Nazrul Islam Khan, the party's Standing Committee member and chairman of the election management committee, said: "We hope that no leaders or activists of our party will do anything to obstruct a fair election."

A three-member delegation led by Nazrul met the chief election commissioner and other commission members on Tuesday, one day before the polls.

Following the hour-long meeting, journalists asked the delegation whether they believed the election might face turmoil.
