Dhaka, Feb. 10 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled its executive committee member Manjurul Ahsan Munshi for "breaking party discipline and acting against its principles".

The announcement came on Tuesday in a media statement issued by the party right ahead of the parliamentary election scheduled for Feb 12.

The BNP said Manjurul has been removed from all party positions, as he issued statements and took actions contrary to party principles and ideals.

A video containing Munshi's speech went viral on social media on Tuesday afternoon.

In the video, he is seen saying: "If I have the power, and if you vote for another party, I will not spare any of you. I will destroy your homes if necessary."
