Dhaka, June 4 -- Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has expressed strong concern over reports that the government is "actively considering" allowing undisclosed wealth to be legalised in the proposed 2026-27 budget through what it described as an unconditional amnesty that would prevent authorities from questioning the source of funds.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the anti-corruption watchdog said the proposed measure was unconstitutional, corruption-friendly and discriminatory, amounting to granting legal protection and impunity to corruption under state patronage.
