Dhaka, March 9 -- A Bangladeshi migrant has died in a road accident in Portugal.

The victim, 32-year-old Kanu Roy, was a resident of Pirkashimpur village in Cumilla's Muradnagar Upazila.

He had been living in the Vila Nova de Milfontes area of Portugal for nearly eight years, working at a local restaurant.

Faruk Sikdar, a local businessman and community leader, said the accident occurred on Sunday night while Kanu was returning home from work on his motorcycle.

A car reportedly struck him from behind, leaving him critically injured.

Kanu was rushed to a local hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

Repeated attempts to contact the Bangladesh Embassy in Lisbon for comment were unsuccessful.
