Bangladesh, July 9 -- A Bangladeshi migrant working as a food delivery driver has been fatally shot in the US state of Pennsylvania, rattling the Bangladeshi diaspora living in the area.

The deceased is 43-year-old Md Mahfuzul Haque, originally from Rajshahi.

Police said the victim was shot in the back of the head and killed in Philadelphia's Kingsessing neighbourhood on Tuesday night (local time).

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the 1000 block of South Ithan Street around 9:30pm where they found the man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Mahfuzul was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10 pm.
