Dhaka, June 25 -- Brave performances from Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, veteran Mushfiqur Rahim, and off-spinner Nayeem Hasan had given Bangladesh an edge in Galle against Sri Lanka, but the two sides ended up battling to a draw in the final Test match for Angelo Mathews.
The Tigers are now hoping to keep their performance at a similarly high level in the second and final Test in Colombo. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who did not play in Galle due to an illness, is likely to bolster the squad.
Bangladesh won the toss on Wednesday and chose to bat.
If they win the match, it will be their first Test series victory in Sri Lanka.
