Dhaka, May 20 -- Another 55 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of gas will be added to the national grid by June next year through the extraction of gas from four wells, State Minister for Power Aninda Islam Amit has said.

He made the announcement after inaugurating the appraisal-cum-development (dual-purpose) well drilling at Kamta Gas Field in Gazipur's Kaliganj Upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

Such wells are designed to evaluate the size and extent of a newly discovered reservoir and extract from it at the same time.

He said, "Extraction in four new wells -- one in Kamta-2 and three others in the Titas gas fields -- has started. It will be possible to supply 55mmcfd gas to the national grid daily from these wells by June next year."...
