Dhaka, May 7 -- The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has brought back a murder suspect from Dubai with the help of Interpol and arrested him.

Arif Sarkar, 40, was extradited on Wednesday, three years after the murder, a media statement said.

Arif was named in the murder case filed over the shooting of Shibpur Upazila Chairman and freedom fighter Harun Or Rashid Khan, 75, at his house on Feb 25, 2023. He died three months later.

The PBI later handed over Arif to Shibpur Police after his arrest in Shahjalal International Airport. Arif was facing an arrest warrant.

Following the gun attack, Harun was rushed to Shibpur Upazila Health Complex. But as his condition worsened, he was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was late...
