Bangladesh awaits verdict in Ramisa rape, murder case
Dhaka, June 7 -- A Dhaka tribunal is set to deliver its verdict in the case over the rape and murder of 8-year-old Ramisa Akter in Dhaka's Pallabi against two suspects, Sohel Rana and his wife Swapna Akter, on Sunday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Masrur Salekin will deliver the verdict in the sensational case around 11am.
This will set a precedent for the shortest possible trial in the country's history.
Those involved in the trial say that in the past, the trials of such cases have never been completed in such a short time. The case reached the verdict stage in just five working days from the start of the trial.
