Bangladesh, Sept. 23 -- Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus says Bangladesh is "fully prepared" to hold a free, fair, and peaceful general election in the first half of February, according to state news agency BSS.
The head of the interim government made the remarks in a meeting with Sergio Gor, US special envoy for South and Central Asia and the UN ambassador-designate to India, in New York on Monday.
"The election will be held in February. It will be free, fair, and peaceful. The country is fully prepared," Yunus said.
Gor praised the chief adviser's leadership and reiterated the US's willingness to support the country's efforts.
