Bangladesh, Aug. 12 -- Actor Mohammad Ashraful Haque Don, known for his villainous roles in Bangladeshi films, has been denied bail in the murder case over the death of actor Salman Shah.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam rejected the bail petition after a hearing on Wednesday.

Don's lawyer Tarikul Islam Jewel sought bail on his behalf, while Dhaka Metropolitan Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi opposed the plea.

Don was arrested at Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday and sent to jail the same day.

A travel ban was imposed on Don last year.
