Dhaka, June 3 -- Awami League Advisory Council member, veteran freedom fighter, and former Dhaka member of parliament AKM Rahmatullah has died.

The stalwart in the party's Dhaka politics passed away around 3:45am on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the capital's Square Hospital, where he had been receiving care for a long time.

Mizanur, an employee on the customer service line for Square Hospital, said: "AKM Rahmatullah died in the morning. His family members took him from the hospital in the morning."

Rahmatullah's nephew Faruk Hossain told bdnews24.com, "He died at 3:45am today. After receiving the news, we went to the hospital and brought his body to his residence in Badda's Beraid."
