Dhaka, April 7 -- The Aviation Operators Association of Bangladesh (AOAB) has proposed a package of tax exemptions, including the withdrawal of customs duties and value added Tax (VAT) on jet fuel.

During a pre-budget meeting with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Tuesday, AOAB Secretary General Mofizur Rahman presented the proposals for the 2026-27 fiscal year.

The association specifically urged the government to adjust tax rates during global crises, such as wars, to prevent "abnormal" spikes in fuel costs from crippling local carriers.

The AOAB proposed slashing the VAT on jet fuel to 5 percent and completely withdrawing the current 6 percent import duty and 2 percent advance tax.
