Dhaka, Oct. 2 -- Australia's online safety regulator says four of the world's most popular gaming platforms are not protecting children consistently, leaving gaps that predators can exploit.

A new report by the eSafety Commission examined Steam, Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft as research shows nine in 10 Australian children aged 8 to 17 have played online games, reports BBC.

eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant says children have the right to play without facing predators, sexual extortionists, or violent extremist content.

She says weak safeguards let adults make contact with young users and groom them for sexual exploitation or radicalisation.
