Australia commits $25.25mn to support Rohingya in Bangladesh
Bangladesh, Aug. 3 -- Australia has committed $25.25 million to sustain life-saving assistance and protection for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
The three-year funding package, covering 2026-2028, will be channelled through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support humanitarian programmes for the displaced population.
The UNHCR said on Monday that the funding comes at a time of growing uncertainty over global humanitarian financing and will help maintain essential services for refugees and host communities.
The assistance will support protection activities, skills development programmes, disaster risk reduction measures and other essential services in the refugee camps, it added.
