Dhaka, April 2 -- A bus driver's assistant has died after falling off a moving bus in Noakhali Sadar.

The accident took place in the Maijdi Bazar area of the Chaumuhani-Maijdi road on Wednesday night, said Chandraganj Highway Police Station chief (OC) Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan.

The deceased was identified as Md Raju, 28, who hails from Lakshminarayanpur village in Begumganj Upazila.

Citing witnesses, the police said that around 9pm on Wednesday, a Sugandha Paribahan bus was heading towards Sonapur in the Sadar Upazila from the Begumganj intersection. On the way, in the Maijdi Bazar area, the driver's assistant Md Raju suddenly fell off the bus and was seriously injured after he was run over by the vehicle.
