Assailants riding motorcycle shoots BNP leader in Khulna
Dhaka, June 3 -- A ward level BNP leader has been shot in Khulna's Rupsha Upazila, police say.
The incident took place in the Taltala area around 10:30pm on Tuesday, said Rupsa Police Station chief Abdur Razzak Mir.
The injured person is 45-year-old Shahinur Sheikh, hailing from Taltala.
The BNP vice-president of Ward No. 2 of TSB Bahirdia Union No. 4 is undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Officer Razzak said, "Shahinur Sheikh was sitting at a tea shop in his village on Tuesday night. At that time, two young men wearing helmets came on a motorcycle and opened fire on him.
"One bullet hit Shahinur in the leg. Another bullet scratched through the scalp."
