Dhaka, April 2 -- Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized 2.8kg of "explosive powder" from the border area in Benapole.
The explosives consignment was seized from a paved road in Bara Anchra village around 2am on Thursday, said Lt Col Golam Mohammad Saiful Islam Khan, commander of the BGB's Jashore Battalion.
It is believed that the explosives were smuggled from India. However, the BGB was unable to arrest anyone as the smugglers went into hiding after noticing the presence of the BGB.
Lt Col Golam Mohammad said that early on Thursday, a special patrol team of the Benapole BGB camp recovered 1.4kg of explosive powder and 1.4kg of potassium explosive powder. The value of the seized explosives is Tk 700,000, said the BGB official.
