Bangladesh, Aug. 1 -- The Bangladesh Army has formed a court of inquiry to investigate the alleged political involvement of an unnamed officer based on intel received from a law-enforcing agency.

The officer is in the Army's custody after he was apprehended from his residence in Dhaka's Uttara on Jul 17, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday. The officer's name and rank were not disclosed.

Noting that the Army was treating the matter with "utmost seriousness", the ISPR said a preliminary investigation found evidence substantiating the allegations.
