Dhaka, April 7 -- Arif Mohammed Khan may be appointed as the next Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh, according to indianmandarins.com, a news site focused on India's civil services and governance.

The BJP politician has recently served as the governor of Bihar from 2025 to 2026. Prior to that, he was governor of Kerala from 2019 to 2025 and also served as union minister, covering several portfolios such as civil aviation.

He would replace current Indian High Commissioner Pranay Kumar Verma.

According to indianmandarins.com, Arif's appointment would be the first time that the post has gone to a politician instead of a career diplomat for some time.
