Dhaka, March 10 -- The government has appointed former secretary Md Aminul Islam as the managing director of Dhaka WASA.
A notification issued by the public administration ministry on Tuesday said Aminul will serve as the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority's managing director on a one-year contractual basis.
The appointment comes after Dhaka WASA's previous managing director Abdus Salam resigned on Sunday following allegations of money laundering and purchasing assets abroad.
On Monday, the Local Government Division gave Additional Secretary Mohammad Moniruzzaman temporary charge as the organisation's managing director.
Aminul was appointed to the position the following day.
