Dhaka, March 17 -- National award-winning small-screen actor Shams Sumon has died after a prolonged battle with liver complications, a colleague has confirmed.

Sumon died on Tuesday evening at a Dhaka hospital, Rashed Mamun Apu, general secretary of the Obhinoy Shilpi Sangha, told bdnews24.com.

Apu said, "We have just received confirmation of his death. He had been suffering from liver problems for a long time. He was at home, but suddenly fell ill today. He was rushed to LabAid Hospital, where he passed away shortly after arrival."

The actor, celebrated for his contributions to television and stage, leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and is mourned by colleagues and fans alike.
