Dhaka, June 9 -- The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved eight projects costing a total of Tk 22.66 billion.

The government will provide Tk 22.29 billion itself, while organisational funding will provide the remaining Tk 372.8 million.

The approvals were granted at the ECNEC meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday, which was presided over by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the Ministry of Planning said.

Of the eight approved projects, three are new, three are revised, and two have had their deadlines extended.

The projects approved in the meeting are:

* The "Barishal Irrigation Project Maintenance and Rehabilitation (Phase 1)" Project under the Ministry of Water Resources
