Dhaka, April 15 -- Customs authorities have seized 630 cartons of cigarettes from the bags of two passengers arriving at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport from Abu Dhabi.

The two landed on Tuesday night on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, according to the airport's Public Relations Officer Ibrahim Khalil.

He said members of the airport customs and customs intelligence teams searched their bags after receiving information from the National Security Intelligence (NSI).

A total of 630 cartons of Mond cigarettes and five smartphones were recovered, he added.

The seized cigarettes and phones were worth around Tk 1.35 million, according to Ibrahim.

The two passengers were also warned over the incident.
