Bangladesh, Sept. 16 -- A mobile court has seized nearly 5,000kg of rice found in 140 sacks belonging to the government's Food Friendly programme that were being sold at a store a short distance away from food warehouses in Brahmanbaria's Nasirnagar. Another 150 empty sacks have also been found.
The rice was seized in a raid in the Mohakhalpara area of the Upazila Sadar around 11:30pm on Monday night, according to Nasirnagar Upazila Administrator (UNO) Shaheena Nasrin.
The police also detained two workers from the store. They were identified as Shaha Kamal Mia and Jewel Mia, both of whom hailed from the Upazila. They were working to remove the rice from the store.
