Dhaka, April 16 -- Law Minister Asaduzzaman says that 4,041,924 cases were at the trial phase in Bangladesh's lower courts at the end of the previous year.

To reduce the backlog, the government has created 871 courts and 232 posts for judges, he said in response to a question from BNP MP Jahandar Ali Miah during a question-and-answer session in parliament on Thursday.
