Bangladesh, July 21 -- Three members of a family have suffered severe burn injuries after a gas line leak triggered a powerful explosion and fire in the neighbourhood of Bhatara in Dhaka.

The incident occurred around 5am on Tuesday near Notun Bazar 100 Feet Road.

The force of the explosion caused the wall of the ground-floor room to collapse.

The victims were rescued and taken to the emergency department of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 5:30am. They are currently undergoing treatment there.

The injured are identied with single names: Shahin, 24, a shop employee, his wife Fahima, 21, and their eight-year-old niece, Hafsa.
