Dhaka, Feb. 6 -- At least three people have died in Rangpur's Pirgonj after an accident involving a bus and two trucks.

Another 12 people were injured in the accident that occurred near Pirgonj Petrol Pump on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway around 4:30am on Friday, said Boro Darga Highway Police Station chief Mizanur Rahman.

The dead were identified as Abdul Razzak Howladar, 55, of Haragachh in Rangpur's Kaunia Upazila, his son Arafat Sani Sanvi, 22, and Rahima Akhter Munni, 35, of Gazipur.

The injured were rescued from the scene and admitted to hospital. Traffic on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway was disrupted for some time following the accident, but police later brought the situation under control.
