Dhaka, April 21 -- As many as 25,408 students have been reported absent on the first day of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.

Among them, 11,089 candidates skipped the exam across nine general education boards.

Moreover, 11,211 students did not appear from the Dakhil examination held under the Madrasah Education Board, alongside 2,307 absentees from the Technical Education Board's vocational stream.

The SSC and equivalent examinations were held simultaneously across 3,885 centres nationwide from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday.

SSC candidates under the nine general education boards took their Bangla First Paper examination on the first day.
