Dhaka, Dec. 11 -- The Fire Service has rescued a 2-year-old child from a borehole in Rajshahi, 32 hours after he slipped in.

The Fire Service recovery team retrieved the toddler, identified as Sajid Hossain, around 9pm on Thursday using a tunnel dug next to the well in Tanore Upazila.

The incident occurred on Wednesday around 1:30pm in Koelhat Purba Para village of Panchandar Union, when he fell into the hole while accompanying his mother near a pond by their home.

A press conference on Sajid's rescue will be held at 10pm on Thursday at the site by the Fire Service Director (Operations & Maintenance), Lt Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury.

Local media personnel have been requested to attend the briefing.
