Bangladesh, Aug. 26 -- Two workers have died while cleaning a septic tank in Chattogram's Patiya Upazila.

The incident occurred on Tuesdaty in Asia Union, according to police.

The victims were identified by their first names as Nazim, 24, and Tarek, 20, both local residents.

Locals said the two workers went down to clean the septic tank but stopped responding after a while, prompting calls to the Fire Service.

A team of Patiya Fire Station later went to the scene and recovered their bodies, according to the Agrabad Fire Service.

Patiya Police Station chief Md Nuruzzaman said that a police team had visited the site and further steps would be taken after an investigation.
