Dhaka, Sept. 21 -- Two inmates of the Keraniganj Central Jail in Dhaka have died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

They died at separate times in the wee hours of Monday morning, said Inspector Habibur Rahman, chief of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp.

One of the dead prisoners was Sohrab Hossain, 55, prisoner number 718/A. He suddenly fell ill in jail on Sept 14 and was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on the orders of the prison authorities. He was later admitted to Ward 602 of the Medicine Department, where he died around 12:30am.

Sohrab's ancestral home is in Rangamati village in Naogaon.
