Dhaka, May 11 -- Two motorcycle passengers have died after their vehicle crashed head-on into a covered van in Jashore's Sharsha Upazila.

The accident occurred on the Navaron-Satkhira highway near the Gilapole Bazar area in front of a brickfield on Monday morning, said Gopal Karmakar, chief of Navaron Highway Police Station.

The dead have been identified as Shahin Hossain, 35, and Tofazzal Hossain, 45. The two of them are residents of the Upazila.

Gopal said, "Shahin was headed to Navaron Bazar on [Tofazzal's] motorcycle to sell his chili pepper crops. A covered van travelling in the opposite direction and headed to Satkhira veered out of control and crashed into the motorcycle head on."
