Dhaka, Sept. 19 -- Police have arrested 179 people in connection with a procession in Dhaka's Gulshan where participants chanted "Joy Bangla".

The procession took place in the Gulshan-1 area around midday on Sept 11, involving several hundred people, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police said on Saturday.

Police moved to disperse the procession, after which two crude bombs were detonated, according to police.

Officers fired two rounds of rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.

Gulshan Police Sub-Inspector Md Mahbub Hossain filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act over the incident.

The case names 118 people and lists another 80 to 100 unidentified people as suspects.
