Dhaka, April 5 -- The byelection for the Sherpur-3 constituency, which was suspended during the 13th general election, will be held on Thursday. At least 16 platoons of BGB personnel have been deployed to ensure that the election is free, fair and peaceful.

BGB members are deployed to maintain overall law and order in this constituency comprising the Sreebardi and Jhinaigati Upazilas, including conducting patrols for five days before the election, on the day of the election, and for two days after the election, said Lt Col Md Nurul Azim Bayezid, commander of the 39th BGB of the Mymensingh Battalion.
