Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- A 14-year-old schoolgirl has been hacked to death in Dhaka's Rayerbazar.

The attack took place outside her home around 9pm on Wednesday.

Her relatives took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 10:15pm, where doctors declared her dead.

The victim Shahriar Sharmin Binti was the eldest of fish trader Bellal Hossain's two children.

Speaking to journalists at the hospital, her mother Nadia Begum said: "Around 8pm, Binti and her brother Nabil went downstairs.

"After buying vegetables, Nabil left his sister outside the building and went to the mosque. Hearing loud noises, I went downstairs and saw many people surrounding my daughter."
