Dhaka, May 19 -- Coastguards have seized 14,500 litres of fuel and 5,000 litres of soybean oil illegally stored for sale in Chattogram city amid a nationwide crackdown on unauthorised hoarding.

The fuel and cooking oil were seized in separate drives from Monday night to Tuesday morning in warehouses on Patenga VIP Road and EPZ Akmal Ali Road in the port city.

However, nobody was arrested during the raids.

Bangladesh Coast Guard spokesperson Lt Col Hasib Ul Islam said the fuel oil seized by its Patenga outpost on Monday included 7,000 litres of jet fuel, 6,000 litres of diesel and 1,500 litres of octane.

A truck meant to transport oil from the scene was also seized.
