Dhaka, April 2 -- The price of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) has spiked by Tk 32.30 per kg as the global fuel market reels amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
As a result, the price of a 12kg cylinder -- the most commonly used form -- has jumped from Tk 1,341 to Tk 1,728 -- a hike of Tk 387.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) said in its notice on Thursday that the prices had been set in coordination with the world market. They will take effect at 6pm.
At the retail level, the price of private LPG, including VAT, has gone up from Tk 111.74 per kg in March to Tk 144.4 in April.
The price of a 5.5kg cylinder has climbed from Tk 615 to Tk 792.
